Projects: goals and steps

A project is a list of goals. Each goal is a list of steps. Each step has an owner and a date.

Open Projects and press New. Give it a name, link it to a customer if there is one, and pick a status: Active, In progress, In review, On hold, Completed or Archived.

Goals and steps

Inside a project, the Goals & steps tab is where the work is. A goal is a heading; under it are steps. Each step has an owner, a due date, a checklist, files, comments with @mentions, and a priority. Open a step to see all of it in a drawer.

The Board tab shows the same steps by stage: Not started, In progress, Needs checking, Done. Drag to move.

Working with somebody who texts you

If a client sends you work by text with screenshots, turn each message into a step and attach the screenshot to it. Mark steps done as you go. The client gets a text when a step is done if they have alerts on, and can see what moved from their portal.

  • A step with no owner is pointed out by Trig.
  • A project nobody has touched in two weeks is pointed out too.
  • Marking a project Completed fires any rule built on it, and Trig drafts a review ask a week later.
